The technology of basic geological data information is an important and indispensable component in the system of national economic information-based. It's the emphases that the construct of spatial database based on 1:50000 regional geologic maps which served for territorial planning, mineral resource prospecting, hydrology, engineering geology, environmental geology, geologic research, geologic teaching, agriculture and urban construction. How to manage and use those voluminous data effectively become a very important issue. For this purpose, the paper established the spatial database management system in MAPGIS.Spatial database is a related spatial data set that stored in memorizer of computers. The data that describe spatial objects of one dimension, two dimension and three-dimension are all spatial data. The spatial data in there were all kinds of Point, Line, Area files that come from MAPGIS program and their attributes geography and geology. It's the emphasis of this research that convenient manage and inquire these files and their attribute information.Based on GIS spatial model comparing and analyzing, under the developing environment of MAPGIS6.5, taking Microsoft's VC++ as developing tool, some new data structure and function were designed using secondary development library of MAPGIS and STL in object-oriented method. They all satisfy the requirement of management in 1:50000 areal geology maps spatial database. Finally, the software of MYGIS was developed which has the characters of easy using and operating. It can implement geological data visualization and has the function of rapid indexing, browsing and managing in MAPGIS files Spatial Database.This program can satisfy the designed purpose by testing, and it can also carry out the major managing functions of Spatial Database based on MAPGIS files butindependent of MAPGIS program.
