There distribute three groups namely Lanhe Group, Yejishan Group and Heichashan Group of Paleoproterozoic in northern part of Luliang mountains, Shanxi province.. Based on the field characters of these three Groups together with their lithospheric relations to those in Wutaishan mountains, it was interpreted previously that the Lanhe Group,Yejishan Group and Heichashan Group are counterparts of Doucun Subgroup, Dongye Subgroup and Guojiazhai Subgroup of Hutuo Group in Wutaishan mountain respectively. Companing with this interpretation, the Lanhe Group was treated to be the lowerest member, the Heichashan Group on top, Yejishan Group lies between. In this research, however, after intergrated investigations of previous research achievements together wth geologic mapping and strata sequence measurements as well as the lithofacies comparisons, the three groups are reinterpreted to be the synchroneous counterparts resulting from lateral lithospheric facies change. On the basis of this new interpretation the Paleoproterozoic rifting evolution in norther part of the Liiliang mountains was discussed.
