The key problem in the study electromagnetics is to upbuild so called relationship between quantity and effect, That is, electromagnetic energies given to biosystems (such as human bodies, animals, cell samples) by electromagnetic waves and the responses of the biosystems. To describe quantity accurately, an equipment which can produce electromagnetic waves within a closed space is necessary. Since GTEM cell can produce electromagnetic waves which have desired parameters in a closed space, at the same time, it has the advantages of wide band, without electromagnetic leak, simple and convenient for measuring and simple structure, so it is widely used.In this paper, a brief review is made for the put forwarding and the development of the conception of GTEM cell. A brief expatiate on the structure and the capability of GTEM cell is made. On the basis of research findings of the former student, the impedance of transition part and main part of GTEM cell are analyzed theoretically and calculated, the work traits of the loads of GTEM cell under 100MHz and over 100MHz are analyzed, on the basis of analysis of absorber of electromagnetic waves and resistance load, the load of GTEM cell is designed. The FDTD method is used to analyze the distribution of longitudinal and transverse electromagnetic field to validate the feasibility of design project. As a special example, the maximum SAR and average SAR of liver tissue of one gram at 800 MHz are calculated, finally, the influence of culture dish to the distribution of electromagnetic waves analyzed.
