As a carrier to deliver oil and gas from offshore platform to land, submarine pipeline has many advantage, such as continuously deliver, large conveying capacity, convenient management and so on, and it has been used extensively in ocean engineering. But the seabed around the pipeline is susceptible to slide under different types of mechanisms in very small slope angles (even smaller than 1°). Submarine slide directly threatens the safety and stability of submarine pipeline. Furthermore it can produce tragedy such as rupture of pipeline which will give rise to large economic loss.This paper contains several aspect of research, including summary and the rheological characters of submarine slide, influence on the submarine pipeline by the submarine slide, TDR monitoring of submarine slide. The main content is as follows:First of all, a systematic summary of submarine slide is done, including survey method of ocean geology, types of submarine slide, triggering mechanisms, characteristics of slide, stability analyses, and hydroplaning which is a very important mechanism of submarine slide, so that the phenomenon of submarine slope failure, which is difficultly onlooking, can be known more fully and impressively.Secondly, three rheological models are introduced and a numerical code BING, which was developed to simulate submarine slide, was used. The result shows that the Theological characters, shear strength and kinetic viscosity can affect flow distance and flow velocity of submarine slide.Thirdly, experimental investigation was carried out in a submarine slide model flume to study pressure on pipeline under creep flow. Further work was done by using finite element method to discuss the affecting of burial depth.Finally, a brief review and introduction are made. They are mainly about the technique of submarine pipeline's measurement, monitoring and theory of TDR testing systems. Furthermore, shearing and tension tests were performed on grouted cable assemblies in order to simulate the field pipeline situation. The variety of signaland the relationship between reflectance and displacement were gotten.
