Based on the foundation of mathematical morphology theory and the analysis of formerresearch, firstly, this study focuses on the effects of mathematical morphology structuringelement attributes on mathematical morphology operators, the paper summarizes 7 basicprinciples of choosing structuring element attributes. Secondly, after comprehensivelyunderstanding problems of road extraction from high-resolution remote sensing imagery, itbrings forward the feasibility and superiority of using mathematical morphology and Matlabsoftware to solve such problems. Finally, it brings forward the course of road extraction fromhigh-resolution remote sensing imagery with mathematical morphology method, in addition togive the solutions to the problems of multilevel road extraction and the truncation of buildingshadow. Output results are good when the solutions are applied to the true image.
