Topology optimization, as a hot topic of structural optimization, is well known for its great flexibility over shape optimization and size optimization. There are a variety of methods to sovle different physical problems. After introducing some theoretical issues, the method of topology optimization of continuum structures subjected to variable pressure loading is studied in this dissertation. The main contents of this dissertation can be summarized as follows:(1)The present status of the study of topology optimization of continuum structures has been summarized. The merits and demerits of the exited optimization method is analysed and compared.The necessity of the study of topology optimization of continuum structures subjected to variable pressure loading is pointed out.(2)In order to reaserch the compression continuum structures, a Maximum Circumferential Strain(MCS) optimization criterion method is proposed based on the idea of the principal stress optimization criterion method ; the study of the compression continuum structures is used respectively basing on the principal stress optimization criterion and the maximum circumferential strain optimization criterion. The shortage of appling the topology optimization uniquely is analysed.(3)Based on the idea of "labyrinth", the numerical procedures, which recognize and load the variable pressure automaticly in the process of the topology optimization, is developed.(4)In order to solve the shortage of topology optimization on the single optimization criterion, a combination of the principal stress optimization criterion and the maximum circumferential strain optimization criterion is proposed. The result of the topology optimization is appropriate; In order to increase the efficiency,a improved combined optimization criterion method is proposed. The combination coefficient between the different optimization criterions is discussed.(5)Based on the filtration technique of sensitivity redistribution to restrain the checker-board pattern, the numerical procedure is developed.
