There are many geology problems present such as horizon unification, division of sub-layers and reconfirm of sedimentary microfacies, although Che 40 Well Block, DongFenggang, is in middle period of development of the oil field. The regularity of sand body distribution in reservoir, heterogeneity characteristics and the reasons of water-flooding failure were researched in the paper, through the research on reservoir characterization and comprehensive evaluation, from several aspects, with dynamic and static studies, providing a scientific reference for the further water-flooding justification and development. The main outcomes are as follows:①Geologic models were built, which could make down the objective situation underground, providing significant basis for comprehensive evaluation and analysis of water-flooding development. Series of strata and sub-layers were division and the former three series of strata were mainly studied. Some models of sub-layers correlation were proposed at the same time.②Six kinds of sedimentary facies were divided in upper Sha-3 in Che 40 Well Block. They were turbidite channels, edges of channels\inter-channel, the front of channels, lobate sand-bodies, and semi-deep lake. Turbidite channels in selected 5 main layers were developed best. The development of sand bodies displayed an apparent regionality.③Reservoir developed poorly in Che 40 Well Block, through comprehensive evaluation using porosity, permeablility, sand ligancy, variation coefficient and sedimentary microfacies, which of five parameters can reflex reservoir heterogeneity and the connectedness of sand bodies.④Comprehensive analysis and evaluation preceded using sections and planes. Structural pools with edge-water and bottom-water and lithologic pools developed in upper sha-3 in che 40 well block. Lithologic pools were more than structural pools with a small scale and poor reserves, while structural pools with edge-water and bottom-water usually developed well, having a large oil area, better connectedness and large reserves.⑤Flood response analysis in water-flooding well had made associating dynamic materials. The thicker sand bodies having a better connectedness, where turbidite channels developed, usually had more apparent flood effectiveness. Besides, heterogeneity of reservoir on plane could be made know directly through analyzing some wells which had bad effectiveness. Variation of physical property in reservoir especially the difference of permeability and variation of sedimentary facies belt were the main affecting factor.
