Desertification is one of the most serious ecological environment problems in the world. It is an important content in the global change studies. The serious consequence of this kind of calamity is decline and forfeiture of the land resource and great destruction of the environment of the land productivity. This article used IDL language to carry on the secondary development of ENVI, customize desertification remote sensing and monitor the module and calculate various kinds of physical parameters in the earth's surface base on MODIS data (NDVI, covered degree, surface temperature, the index of soil moisture, etc.) and analyzed that the distribution of space-time of every parameter changes the characteristic, have utilized the remote sensing monitor index system of desertification and realized that the desertification current situation of the plateau of Mongolia is appraised .Found finally, the slight desertification land will account for 22.82% of the studies region; The land area of medium degree of desertification accounts for 22.44% which studies the regional land area, is distributed in three major areas of sand ground mainly, namely Horqin sand ground area, Hunshandake sand ground area, Maowusu sand ground district; The heavy degree of desertification accounts for 14.25% which studies the regional land area, is distributed in the desert area of Tenggeli mainly; The extremely desertificated land area accounts for 18.14% which studies the regional land area, concentrate on being distributed in the central Gobi desert and Badanjilin desert.
