In this study, insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-1) of goat mammary gland was examined at different development stages by Radiommunoas-say (RIA) and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method. The quantity measurement of IGF- I by RIA showed : the quantity of mammary gland IGF- I begun to increased in gestation and significantly higher than experiment control group (532.21±5.73 ng/mL), achieved maximum around the parturition period (4641.72±80.84 ng/mL),and decreased gradually in the lactation period. The examination of expression quantity of IGF- I by RT-PCR showed: the quantity of mammary gland IGF- I increased with the number of days increased after gestation begun. And the expression quantity decreased gradually in parturition period. Comparison of two results: IGF- I expression quantity in mammary gland at different development stages by PCR resulted in consistent pattern as that of RIA, having peak quantity of IGF- I in parturition period.Lastly, Correlation between expression level of IGF-1 and IGF-1R was analyzed by SPSS software. The data demonstrate that expression levels of IGF-1 and it's receptor were positively correlated except in the Dry Period. The expression quantity of IGF-1R is in line with the model Y = -0.0057+ 2.0526X-0.7930X2+0.1074X3 (X:IGF-1 expression quantity). In summary, the study on the correlation between IGF-1 and IGF-1R in goat mammary gland will set a solid foundation for the application of extrinsic IGF-1 .
