Most test data of casting thin sections, SEM, particle size analysis, CLM, X-ray diffraction of clay minerals have been used; the thesis evaluated the upper Paleozoic reservoir of Huitan 1 well on the west margin of the Ordos basin being guided by the new achievements of sedimentary theory, clastic reservoir research and international oil-gas field exploration.The reservoir Petrology types of Huitan 1 well include lithic sandstone,lithic quartz sandstone and quartz sandstone,much lithic and low feldspar is the notable features of the reservoir, component maturity poor; The separation of sandstone is better, prismatic roundness which is hypo-angularity to hypo-roundness is middling; matrix formed mainly by illite.The cement formed maily by carbonate,silicon,kaolinite minerals et; except Yanghugou formation formed maily by ankerite,the carbonate cement of other three formations formed maily by ferrocalcite,the siderite is better in Taiyuan formation. Carbonate mineral formed maily by the dissolution of aluminosilicate, attachment cementation fill the pores. The silicon cement and kaolinite which are the parenthesis production of the dissolution of aluminosilicate is better for the pore preservation.The characteritcs of porosity in the Hui 1 exploration well is with low areal porosity, and the secondary pore is the main type of porosity, expressly most of it is mineral intercrystalline pore, others are dissolved matrix pores and lithic dissolution porosity. a few primary porosity can be found under microscope. Siliceous cement can make sandstone reservoir strengthen and restrained the compaction,so it is conductive to the preservation of Intergranular hole. The kaolinite dissolution from feldspar grow much mineral intercrystal porosity. Carbonate cement occupies lots of pores,it does not favor the preservation of the pore.
