Along with the unceasing development of our country's traffic system, the number of motor vehicles increases day by day, in order to monitor and manage the motor vehicle, the vehicles supervisory system need to satisfy the novel and high demand. The appliance of GPS location system is more and more abroad in the vehicles supervisory system. So research of GPS turn into hotspot of society. A new type GPS location system is designed in this thesis. It is base on the need of vehicle manage system and the design method of GPS location system in existence.The text includes 4 functions, for instance controller section, location section, communications section and display section. AVR MCU is adopted in controller section because of it is simple and stabile. High precision GPS location chip named GR-85 is adopted in location section. It can track 12 secondary planets'signal. The communicate module with controller using series and sends the operation message to controller accurately. Sony/Ericsson Corporation's GR-64 module is used in the correspondence part. The communicate module with controller using RS232. The correspondence module is used to sent the location message to the message center by controller on the GSM channel of 900 MHz. LCD displayer witch can list Chinese characters in 128×64 lattice is adopted in display section make the Display message clarity.The GPS simple point positioning system made up the difference GPS receiver's shortcoming witch is the difference GPS receiver needs a known point, and only can be used in this known point scope's short distance. It expands positioning scope. It helps positioning domain, for instance, geodetic survey, driving led develop.
