In recent years, along with the development of GIS and the geography space information technical, 3D visualization technique make more and more action in the aspect of geology research. By using the technique of 3D dynamic visualization, scene modeling and image manipulation, we can develop a virtual environment system concerning the particular geology district, and make the scientists of geology more intuitionistic to understanding the regulation of geology information and the occurrence, development and influence of various geology phenomenon.Various geological information of geological mass in geological engineering can be regarded as the functions of 3D space. The corresponding fitting functions of curve surface are established respectively through explored materials in-situ, and the 3D geological model can be created by computer. By this way, the distribution rule of geological information in engineering rock and soil mass can be vividly represented and the understanding of complicated geological mass can be greatly improved. It will play an important role in the exploration, construction and monitoring of geological engineering project. The key technical problems of 3D modeling and visualization of complicated geological mass are analyzed in this paper.1, The inserted value and match of discrete data. Various geology information in the complicated geological mass, include geological surface, geological lay interface...etc. All can see as the function in the 3D space, they draw according to the data had established, and the more abundant of data, the more describe of the information to 3D regulation.2, 3D Data Structure. The 3D space data structure of geological mass is the foundation of 3D modeling and visualization, then there must be a valid 3D data structure.3, Cross of curved face. There is various lay in the geological mass, when the lay is break, the cross of curved face will be occur. When cross section, the cross of curved face will be occur too.4, 3D Topology Structure. See from the geology, topology is the relation between the geological object, topology records the relation of every lay in the geological mass.The merit and shortcoming of the modeling is most decided by the topology structure.5, Technique of Visualization. The visualization of geological mass is used the data which already has to convert into the stereoscopic image and section sketch which hand over the with each other analytical underground geology structure space appearance.The realization of the geological mass of 3D is based on the thought of sample value-put data and draw up to match .It convert long-lost data to a continuous curve curved face, withdrawing various geology information to sit the position and parameter, to match and put the value function to get the 3D calculator sketch manifestation of the geology lay (curved face) and the geology entity differently, and to express geology information's district of distribute regulation in research area. This system is explored in the Visual Studio 2005 C++ platform. Through the triangle mesh ,it carries out curved face to draw up , and uses the OpenGL logarithms to view the data, and allows customer to operate a series of 3D geology entity ,such as revolving an observation, carrying on section analysis etc. This system is completed strictly according to the software engineering norm, and divides the line system to model of each function.
