Explosion containment vessel is a device used for confining potential danger. It can restrict shock wave and production of explosion, effectively protect the test personnel and equipment near from the explosion, and facilitate the observation and testing of the explosion and detonation process, storage and transportation of dangerous substances, scientific research and other fields. Because the ECVs are subjected to internal blast loading is concerned, people have pay more attention to the safety of them. By now, the study on the dynamics of ECV still needs more efforts. Further theory and experimental study are needed. This thesis, sponsored by National Natural Science Fund, takes the experimental and numerical study on the single layer cylindrical ECV subjected to internal blast loading. This thesis aims at providing technical support for other similar vessels' design by analyzing the dynamic response of the ECV. The main efforts and results of this study are as follows:1. In the explosion experiments, the circumferential and axial strain of the cylinder' cross section are measured, and the frequency characteristics of the strain waves are analyzed. The results show that chooses the proper ratio of the length and diameter in designing process will avoid the strain growth.2. The dynamic response of a cylindrical explosion containment vessel with the elliptical head was studied using explicit finite element code LS-DYNA. The result shows when adding a certain mass flange on the vessel, the strain growth phenomenon have shown up the cylinder' cross section. The mass of the flange, the style of the head and the damping are the factors that must be considered when designed;3.the results of the numerical simulation of the experiment ECV shows that the simulation method is accurate enough to instead of the experiment under some conditions.
