With the continuous development of GIS, "digital campus" has begun to rapid development and the trend of development is VR-GIS. The campus management system which based on the VR-GIS technology will become the new source of campus information. Through the management of various facilities of spatial data and attribute data, it can provide users with the information resources for text, and can provide managers all kinds of spatial analysis and decision support functions. So that it can improve the work efficiency and save resources, and promote the rapid development of the school.This thesis focus on the establishment of a virtual campus, it discussed the necessary key technologies of Virtual campus , which including VR-GIS technology, 3D roaming the necessary collision detection technology, LOD technology and OpenGL technologies .The system's necessary geographical spatial data include landform contour digital data, map data, texture data ,on the basis of the gain of this data and attribute data to establish the Southwest Petroleum University campus of the virtual 3-D models, including: first use Geometric Modeling way to establish virtual campus building complex 3D model, and then through the image modeling techniques for the construction of the complex texture mapping; in the end, use an improved method Double boarding to build greenbelt model. When the Southwest Petroleum University's overall framework of virtual campus is designed, the use of GIS technology and database management techniques, three-dimensional modeling make the Southwest Petroleum University virtual campus system come true. The virtual system include the display of campus spatial data, basic graphics operation, basic various query for spatial data and attribute data and background management functions. The whole text, from theory to practice, formed a complete virtual GIS application system, to provide ideas and solution methods for virtual GIS's applications in the construction of digital campus.
