Using the three-dimensional POM (Princeton Ocean Model),the tidal movement in the Bohai Sea,Yellow Sea and East China Sea are numerically simulated. On the basis of the previous researches, three factors which might impact the tidal simulations are considered. First, the bottom friction plays an important role in the tidal propagation. It is hard to determine the bottom friction coefficient through the experimental constants or artificial debugging because of the complex ocean topography. Therefore, in the numerical simulations of tide, it is important to select the appropriate bottom friction coefficient. Second, through the study of POM,the magnitude of the omitted terms in viscosity terms, which we call the amended terms of the viscosity and topography, is comparable with that of the Coriolis term in the regions with the depth changing rapidly. Thus the author adds the amended terms of the viscosity and topography in the code of POM model and finds out their impacts on the M2 tidal system in the Bohai Sea,Yellow Sea and East China Sea.Third, most of the previous tidal simulations adopt the barotropic models. But in the real ocean, the complex temperature and salinity fields could influence the tidal movements through the density field. To sum up,the author studied the effects of the three factors on the tidal system by numerical simulations.(1) different bottom friction coefficients;(2)εui,εθ,εs -the amended terms of the viscosity and topography;(3) the temperature and salinity fields of annual mean and monthly mean in August;Using the constituent constants of M2 tide to simulate the surface elevation in the Bohai Sea,Yellow Sea and East China Sea, the tidal movement were numerically simulated. The obtained tidal constituent constants were compared with the data observed from ninety tidal stations. In the comparisons, the impacts of the three factors on the tidal system are evaluated and analyzed.By this research, the complete understanding of the tidal simulations in the Bohai Sea,Yellow Sea and East China Sea is presented, and it has established a basis for the future study on tide and tidal current numerical simulations.
