The elementary knowledge of LB film and its preparation are introduced firstly. We prepared several novel cyanine dyes, and made a thorough investigation on its optical characteristic.By using SHG, we measured the second harmonic coefficient and the molecular inclined angle of our LB films. The result shows a well character of this material. We also looked into the effect of doping Cd2+ metal ion.In our work, we also measured some optical constants (including complex dielectric constant, extinction coefficient, absorption coefficient, reflection coefficient, refractive index, etc.) of our film by SE method. By curve fitting our data with Lorentz oscillator model, we demonstrated its applicability in LB film.In the last chapter, we report our measurement result by using Fluorescence spectrum. By comparison with spectrum of cyanine solution, LB film showed clear blue shift. This result is consistent with our measurement before, and gives a decisive proof of the existence of H- congregation in LB film. Further research in this area will be done in the future.
