Ground fissures have been the main environment geological disaster in Xi'an city. Since 1950s, 14 ground fissures have been found in Xi'an area, which has caused 4 billion Yuan's direct losses. The worse is that new fissures are coming forth and developed. As a result, the utilization of building land and urban planning and development of Xi'an city are badly restricted, and great hidden trouble is buried for city's engineering construction. So the great geo-hazard difficult problem to be solved urgently is to perform the research on genesis and disaster-causing mechanism and work out economical and effective countermeasures.Presently, the distribution and activity characteristic of Xi'an ground fissures have been found out basically, but its genetic mechanism is immature being many different points of view and disputes on it for that there are some key basic problems being unresolved. Furthermore, the research on the countermeasures of minimizing and defending disaster is far from sufficiency because of the restriction of genesis and disaster-causing mechanism researching degree. The problems and deficiencies in the research of Xi'an ground fissures were analyzed. Based on it this paper study on the destruction mode of building, and have put forward proposal for countermeasure of prevention.Some main work are got as follows in this paper:1.This paper specific to the features of deformation of ground fissures to buildings in Xi'an , it is study on classification of the destruction mode of building, based on the survey of buildings which are crossing ground fissures .2.This paper is by means of the method of imitation on PLASIX, and assisted by the method of numerical value, taking for the f 6 of ground fissures in Xi'an city, study the variation of stress field and displacement field of the overlying soil layer which the normal fault qualitative ground fissures lead to. And it separately calculated out of the variation of the features of deformation, when brick masonry, block masonry and stone masonry act as solely material of the building.3.Taking for the f 6 of ground fissures in Xi'an city, this paper imitated disaster prevention of the three-level buildings which were crossing the ground fissures and the width of the influencing zone of ground fissure hazards. Based on the finite element analysis, it calculated the safety distance of hanging wall and footwall.
