In this paper, loess– redbed landslide of baoji is regarded as studied object, and the mechanism of loess– redbed landslide is researched from the point of loess and slip band. First of all, based on the detailed analysis of engineering geology, environmental geology and meteorological hydrological characteristics of the researched objects ,distribution of loess landslide and internal and external factors of landslide are explored thoroughly, then the conclusion is that rainfall is the main factor of Baoji loess - redbed landslide. Secondly, based on the experiment on a large number of soil samples collected from field and the research on the physical properties and Collapsibility of loess, the paper derives the relationship between shear strength and moisture content of loess ,expounds the low-speed mechanism of loess - redbed landslide of gently slope angle, and explores the geologica damage mode of loess-redbed landslide which consists of Plastic crack-tensile crack-slip- disintegration-shearing-extrusion.At last, based on the seepage simulation of landslide at liujiashan by virtue of the SEEP/W module,it elicits the change of pore water pressure and the trends of groundwater level after rainfall from the model calculation. What's more, the safety factor of landslide in a variety of conditions is got by the numerical simulation through the finite difference software FLAC.from the assurance coefficient of landslide above, the paper also determines the landslide stability in studied region. Last but not least, the results of research in this paper have such a certain practical significance on landslide hazard prevention and control of this kind in the Baoji City.
