Based on the real three dimensional (3D) geological modeling theory advanced by SimonW. Houlding, after collecting correlative section maps and drill data, this article established the three dimensional geological model of Xinglong coalfield in Chengde region using the Mincromine software and distilled the multiple source data such as stratum and structures which indicate the mineralization by using statistical analysis. With 15 mineralized variations, Weight-of-evidence modeling is applied to predict the potential areas of coal in this study area. The posterior probability map of coal deposits delineated by weights of evidence method is made. Four advantageous coal mineralization regions are circled through combining the known mineralization points and field confirmation analysis. The study on 3D visualization and the prediction of coal resource in Chengteh region using weights of evidence method has provided an important scientific proof for the region mineral resource survey and exploitation. The Permo-Carboniferous stratum is one of essential conditions of coal bed according to the real 3D model of Xinglong coal field, Huangshengshan and Zhangjiazhuang group are the important coal-bearing formations, and, as the roof of the sixth coal bed, Lamagou group is the main symbol stratum. By using Boolean calculation to carry on the model analysis according to the present DEM data,we find that the Meilinggou mining area still has an enormous room for development.Through carrying on the integrated mineralization prediction of the coal deposit using multi-dimensional information in Chengteh area, it is thought that the aera of Weichang, Maquanzi-Meilinggou-Dazhangzi-Xiaosi, Changshan valley Town-Dashimiao, and the belt of MiaoLiang-Weichanggou-Songshuling-Shizimiao have great potential for further development of coal resources.
