With the Three Gorges project, there emergences a large number of artificial high slopes in the Three Gorges reservoir area. High slopes, as potential geological disasters, have become increasingly prominent, and have become one of the main geological hazards in the Three Gorges reservoir area. Slope failure occurred from time to time, and once slope failure, the consequences would be disastrous. Therefore, stability analysis of high side-slope is very important. In this paper, the author reduces the material parameters of the slope rock and soil, and calculates using the Midas-GTS finite element software, which is based on the strength reduction algorithm, to obtain the slope safety coefficient and the largest displacement of the slope at the brink of destruction. According to the characteristics of finite element method, you can intuitively see the most dangerous position of slip surface, the process of slope from stability to destruction, the local part of the largest displacement occurred in a process of change. This paper mainly analyzes the slope stability from their geometric characteristics, and obtains several conclusions from a large number of model calculations: 1, with the slope angle increases, the largest slope displacement of the partial destruction decreases; 2, when the slope changes from stability to destruction, the position of the largest local displacement moves from the top to the foot of the slope; 3 , when the slope is at the brink of destruction, the largest local displacement of rock slope is minimum, followed by rock and soil slope, and the largest slope for the soil. What is more important is to put deformation into the analysis of slope stability, and gets good result. This paper analyzes the relatively new point of view, detailed data on the engineering of high slope deformation monitoring and early warning will be useful.
