The Erdos lake and basin plateau area, with vast territory and abundant mineral resource, lies in the northern of Erdos basin, which is energy and chemical industry base of 21st century. The development and utilization of groundwater resources has great potential in the area, but the ecological environment is frail. Subei lake the basin is a typical lake, belongs to a part of Erdos Cretaceous artesian water basin, the research indicated that the supplies rates of confined groundwater are not abundant, a part of elastic storage capacity must be used as pumping groundwater. Whether has continually exploiting confined groundwater to create the serious ecological environment problem, what has relations between the groundwater and the vegetation ecology, these are the questions which this area groundwater resources development must reply.In this paper, the relationship between groundwater and vegetation ecology, with emphasis on analysis the following research:1. The typical profile of lithological structure of unsaturated zone numerical simulation of moisture movement, establishment vegetation typical of the root water uptake model.2. Multi-method, multi-perspective discussion the relationship between ground water and vegetation ecology.3. Using analytic hierarchy process (AHP)and the composite index in the study area to assessment the ecological vulnerability and predict the law of vegetation succession.This article is based on the collection, analysis the existing data, as ground water science, ecology and environmental science theory a guide, through field investigation and analysis of laboratory test, used determine apparent, statistical analysis and numerical simulation method to study the relationship between groundwater and vegetation ecology, obtained the following conclusions and understanding of:1. The research area vegetation degree of cover overall is good, Artemisia, Salix and Carex populations are widely distributed. Artemisia, Salix, Hedysarum laeve, splendens and Carex are the dominant species in this area. Vegetation community distribution take obviously on zonation performance with changing of the water table depth, groundwater table as Subei lake the center ring was buried by a shallow to deep, vegetation community from grass and hydrophyte species to xerophilou species. The correlation between the total vegetation cover and the groundwater level was not obvious. Vegetation growth and soil aerated a very close relationship with water content. 2. Using hydrus-1D software to carry on eolian sand - weathered sandstone type structure profile numerical simulation of unsaturated zone moisture movement and the study of Artemisia root water uptake, reveals the unsaturated zone water movement laws and the laws of Artemisia root water uptake, the determination the Artemisia root water uptake depth is l-2m in study area.3. The affect the range of eolian sand moisture content by groundwater controlling is 1-1.2m in study area, 1.5-2.0m on Silty Sand. When groundwater table excee a certain depth, the unsaturated zone water content is mainly affected impact on rainfall and lithological structure of the unsaturated zone. Dry vegetation on the water table depth for the minimum range of 1.5-2.0m, aquatic vegetation on the water table depth for the largest range of 1.0-1.5m.4. By studying the roots of vegetation characteristics, the depth of root water uptake, the affect range of on the moisture content of unsaturated zone by groundwater, and distribution law of groundwater level, the study area on the main vegetation and groundwater to determine the relationship shows that Artemisia, Caragana , Hedysarum and groundwater relevance are not obvious, Salix, splendens and groundwater relations are closer, Carex is very close.5,Establishment Subei lake evaluating indicator system, according to the composite index of vegetation ecological fragile degree, study area is divided into four level vulnerability areas, such as extremely vulnerable areas, highly vulnerable areas, moderate vulnerable areas and low vulnerable areas, the establishment of vegetation succession law model to predict the law of vegetation succession.Finally, the paper put forward some reasonable proposals on utilization water resources in accordance with ecological environmental protection, achievment sustainable development.
