Seismic interpretation has entered a new period of"Hydrocarbon anormaly detection", in result of development of the seismic true amplitude gathering and processing technology , In many oilfields , seismic amplitude became the major proof of hydrocarbon underground.Based on the research and understanding the background and current development status of the pre-stack inversion technology , this paper introduced AVO basic theory and related rock physics basis ; then summarized Zoeppritz equation and linear approximations and explained their physical meaning ; after that this paper studied the elastic impedance theory , and introduced the other two different kinds of elastic impedance , that is extended elastic impedance and generalized elastic impedance .This paper took a certain oilfield in Bohai sea for instance , using elastic impedance inversion technology to extract elastic parameters which is sensitive to lithology and fluid. And then we established a reservoir description method by using elastic parameters , which is effective to reduce exploration risk and positive for further study.
