With rapid development of exploration extent, lithologic hydrocarbon reservoir exploration has become the main exploration targets at present. Litho-stratigraphic reservoir is difficult to identify, and the exploration is high risk. This requires that we overcome the technical difficulties to identify the geometry, physical parameters and hydrocarbon potential of lithologic reservoir. The study area is located on the right bank of the Amu Darya in Turkmenistan. The reservoir of the block has a good combination of production, storage, cover and migration conditions. As in the study area, in the carbonate reservoir where there is organic reef, it is characterized by rapid changes in the horizontal direction and a large difference between reservoir properties in the vertical direction, so it needs to use fine reservoir description techniques to predict the favorable carbonate reservoir and analyze the fluid properties. In this paper, high resolution subsurface correlation techniques, geophysical parameters analysis of rocks, analysis of seismic attribute about AVO and elastic impedance inversion are used to study the distribution of favorable reservoir and describe the distribution characteristics of the expected gas region. The main work are as following:1. Based on analysis of the data of logs, study on physical parameters of different rock the sensitivity of the fluid are done, and its result is applied later in the elastic parameters forward.2. After analyzing the result of the forward that based on the density curve, porosity curve and water saturation curve, we calculated the other curve which lack of information in the study area, which laid the foundation for the later fluid replacement.3. For all logging to forward calculation on fluid replacement, it fits the other curve that in the study area according to formula.4. According CRP gather information, the angle gather are calculated and analyzed.5. According angle gather information and the velocity, inverse calculation of the elastic impedance and a variety of elasticity data volume is done.6. Based on drilling result, analysis of the data volume of elastic inversion is done, and it forecasts the distribution of favorable reservoir and the distribution of gas.In the research process, a set of research methods suitable for the study area is summarized. We summarized some useful methods for the exploration of the region, such as parameters selection, the preserved processing, comprehensive application of various software and etc. This paper provides a reference for future research. Finally, we identifies the favorable exploration blocks in the region, and proposes some favorable wells.
