With the development of the micro-satellite technology, the formation flying small satellites constellation constructed by a few or even more than ten small satellites has received widespread attention. It plays a very important role in the area of communication, remote sensing, navigation and electronic surveillance. The realization of the relative location between the stars and the esta blishment of information exchange is the key to complete co-control, and improve the self-survive and self-management ability of the formation flying small satellites. Therefore, the study on the error of formation flying small satellites measurement has important scientific significance and application value. Based on the existing literature, This paper does some research on the error sources that impact the precise of measurement and the corresponding compensation measures.This paper studied the principles of precise measurement between the formation flying small satellites. Through the analysis of theory and the study of measurement process, this paper researched the impact of various error sources on the system, the main systematic errors are clock error, the temperature error and relativity error; the main random error are multiple path error, sampling error and tracking error.Then, this paper studied various errors and the impact to the accuracy of the measurement. The measures to weaken or eliminate the effects of these errors are also studied, in order to achieve the precise measurement between the formation flying small satellites, and realizate co-control, self-survive and self-management of the formation flying small satellites.In this paper, the sources of error are determined after the study of the measurement theory. Then the most important part is the research of the errors on the system. Some errors are not need to be amended such as the pseudo-code error and carrier loop phase tracking error. The specific values of the two errors are got through analysis and calculation. Then compared the values with the largest non-fuzzy distance, the errors will not affect the correct solution of carrier phase ambiguity. So such errors are allowed. Such research is the premise of the error compensation and appropriate compensation selection.After the reseaches, this paper raised error mensuration of temperature coefficient between formation flying small satellites TT&C equipment and an approach of contrasting time for relative ranging between formation flying small satellites. The error mensuration method of the temperature coefficient can actualize the mensuration of temperature coefficient on the transmitting and receiving equipment via the information from the signal communicated between satellites under the observe noise; the contrasting time method is based on the principle of the TWSTT and Self-transmitting and Receiving. In the fact that the equipment delays are unkown and the satellite clocks have errors, through the approach, relative ranging between formation flying small satellites can be found. The error of satellite clocks and the time delay of launcher and receiver and multi-path error and observation error and so on, have been eliminated.
