With the rapid development of computer technology, remote sensing and mapping technology and so on, geographic information system has begun to enter the high-speed development period. As the rapid increase in computer hardware performance, theory and application of further in-depth, geographical information system go to the personal computer age from the server era. Remote sensing and mapping technology are going to be the data source of geographic information system. Detailed data makes it easy for geographic information system to provide the spatial location-based services to various agencies. In recent years, geographic information system began to integrate into the government as an integral part of office automation, especially in land and resources department, surveying and planning departments. They gradually have been established their own geographic information system. Virtual reality technology in Geographic Information System enables large enterprises to start thinking about how to make the GIS system into their systems in order to achieve the timely communication of information, and make accurate decisions easily. This software is developed for the leaders and designers of Iron and Steel Group. It is a integrated system of GIS, network technology and virtual reality technology .it collects all of Iron and Steel Group's pipelines' data and landscapes' data, stores them in a database, which are used to analyze. It is a platform for data displaying and exchanging. We can see the terrain, landscapes and the pipelines'distribution by the three-dimensional data display module. It is a system based on the data format of Geodatabase. It includes bi-directional CAD and ArcGIS data conversion, data cropping, input and output, pipe network design, symbol management, data display, data query, data statistics, tagging, measuring and calculation, profile analysis, network analysis, Three-dimensional display and other common GIS functions, which providing the Iron and Steel Group's management of complex network data with new ways to design pipelines.
