The marine strata of lower Paleozoic in west middle Yangtze region had been reformed and superimposed by four tectonic movements that includes the Caledonian, Hercynian-early Indo-Chinese, late Indo-Chinese-early Yanshan and late Yanshan-Himalayan, which resulted diversity and stages of burial history, thermal evolution history, hydrocarbon generation and expulsion history of source rocks in study region. This paper analysed characteristics of organic matter abundance, types, maturity and thickness distribution of the Cambrian source rocks. By means of basin simulation software, PetroMod from German IES Company, reconstructed different area's sedimentary and bury history in west middle Yangtze region. Based on the experimental data of vitrinite (asphalt reflectivity), we have corrected the thermal history of the basin by Ro inversion method, matched thermal evolution history through the typical wells or sections in the research area, analogied the rules of the organic matter maturity of the source layer in the Cambrian with variation geological time, and dynamically represented the maturity of the source layer in different geologic period. According to the kinetics parameters of the kerogen's types, combinated thermal and burial history in different areas, the hydrocarbon generation and expulsion intensity of the source rock of the Cambrian were calculated under the conditions of geology. On the basis of kinetics parameters, the cracking intensity of the paleo-oil reservoirs in the Shilongdong Formation of the Middle Cambrian was inversed, meanwhile, quantitatively calculated the effective hydrocarbon deliverability and the non-structural diffusive loss of the paleo-gas reservoirs. The research results indicated that the hydrocarbon generation and expulsion quantity of the source rocks in western Hunan and Hubei region is larger than that in western Hubei-eastern Chongqing region. The Caledonian was the major hydrocarbon generation period in the former area, and the Hercynian-Indosinian was the main time in the latter areas. However, its hydrocarbon generation potential had been completely exhausted after the early Yanshan movement. The paleo-oil pools of the lower Cambrian in both areas got into the main pyrolysis stage in the mid-late Triassic (236Ma-205Ma). One third intensity of the accumulation hydrocarbon in the paleo-gas reservoirs of the Shilongdong Formation had been lost in the time of the Himalayan in the western Hunan and Hubei region, and the diffusion loss of large and medium-sized gas reservoir was about 24%-26%. The effective hydrocarbon supplyment period of the ancient gas reservoirs in Western Hubei-Eastern Chongqing Region was mainly occurred in the late Triassic-early Jurassic, and in Himalayan the supplyment hydrocarbon was still accumulated, and the non-structural diffusion loss is about 14%.
