In the real world, many physical processes and systems have the character of strong spatial variations, which is called spatial distributed systems(SDSs). It's very hard to model and control. And Fuzzy logic system with its unique language structure, simulating of human thinking and taking advantage of the system of qualitative information and historical data, therefore, can be introduced into modeling and control of the spatial distribution system. The traditional fuzzy set is two-dimensional with dimension for the universe of discourse of the variable and the other for its membership degree. This 2-D fuzzy set is not to handle the spatial information.Like 3-D fuzzy set, an improved spatial fuzzy set is proposed which is made of a traditional fuzzy set and an extra dimension for spatial information and makes the new spatial fuzzy set express spatial information in contrast to traditional fuzzy set. Different from 3-D fuzzy set, The new fuzzy set makes space-axis extension according to the physical changes of the input variables. And a new spatial Mamdani fuzzy model is proposed with the new spatial fuzzy set for modeling spatial distributed parameter system.?The modeling process of this method is based on the sample data, initialize the parameters of the modeling, and adjust the parameters to determine the spatial fuzzy set and fuzzy rules. Finally, modeling of the exchanging process of heat exchanger is taken as an example and the simulation results show that the proposed method can effectively model the spatial distributed system with good accuracy.Also, the spatial fuzzy controller is designed for the spatial distributed system based on the spatial fuzzy set. The controller has the similar structure of 3-D fuzzy controller, and is composed of space fuzzification, space fuzzy reasoning and defuzzification.
