The interaction between finite ?exible ?ag and ?uid is a kind of classical ?uid-solidinteraction problem, which of significance in applications and fundamentals studies. Inthis dissertation, the phenomenon of interaction including with ?utter ?apping, dragand ?utter mode are systemic researched. The results and conclusions are describedbrie?y as follows:The ?utter instability and response of finite-span ?exible plates in uniform ?oware investigated experimentally. The e?ects of the plate aspect ratio on its dynamicresponses are mainly analyzed. A hysteretic phenomenon is observed and can be de-scribed as that the plate ?utters spontaneously as the ?ow velocity is greater than acritical value UC? and the plate returns to its stable state as the ?ow velocity is slowlydecreased to another critical one UD?. We find that the aspect ratio has a greater e?ecton UC? than on UD?. The ?utter frequency decreases and the amplitude increases withthe increase in the ?ow velocity. When the ?utter instability of the plate occurs, threetypical ?utter modes are identified and are associated with the aspect ratio and the?ow velocity.
