The irreducible water saturation is the important parameter in logging data processing and interpretation. The reservoir fluid type and production, is not only in connection with the formation permeability and oil or gas properties, but also with the irreducible water saturation. Now the current study is the phase of experimental (mercury) and the conventional empirical formula. But the minimum non-mercury saturation in that way only represents of the non-clay particle surface absorbed water and capillary water. In fact, it is the concept of non-moving water and cannot get the clay particle surface absorbed water. When the content of the clay mineral is a little high, or the absolute content is not so high but the content of the smectite and illite / mixed-layer mineral are very high, and the water salinity is low, using mercury capillary pressure method is a great error. Of course, the conventional and empirical formula will get the same error. To define standards for determining bound water porosity, carrying out component analysis on the rock pore will be done. This paper is based on the study of clay bound water contents and requirements, whose foundation is core analysis, geological, logging data, and production data as well as the results of previous studies. This thesis uses methods of mathematical statistical and computer, while its basis is the theory of logging and reservoir physics. This study systematically summed up the formation mechanism of bound water, seizing the dominant factor which affects the saturation of bound water, analyzing their log response characteristics, using the most suitable logging series. This paper uses the diffuse electric double layer theory and the latest logging method to study the effective and targeted quantitative evaluation and interpretation model. Finally, we can examine the method accuracy, applicability and reliability by applying the results of study to the specific practice.
