At present, one of the main challenges in development of Daqing oilfield is that most part of the main oil layers are flooded. Though there are still some amounts of residual oil in the channel sand bodies which have higher thickness, especially near large faults where well spacing is relatively sparse and injection-production relationship is imperfect. It is necessary to further tap the remaining oil potential in these oil layers to enhance oil recovery. Therefore, Finding the residual oil potential along faults is currently the key technical issue that needs to be solved in Daqing oilfield.To solve this problem, based on logging data and 3-D seismic data of Lamadian oilfield, a fine 3D structure model is built. This geologic model delineates the fluctuation of structures and the fault plane position of the studied area more accurately than previous model. Combining the data from sealed coring and well logging in Lamadian oilfield, Using the techniques of "cyclic correlating and control by cycle scale",the distribution of sandbodies of studied area are described, microfacies maps are drawn, the heterogeneity of reservoir is studied and 3D property models such as porosity, permeability and saturation are built. Based on the fine delineation of reservoirs, structures and a full analysis of injection-production relationship of the wells along faults, this paper studies the residual oil potential within thick layers and their distribution. According to the distribution features of residual oil, a method of tapping the remaining oil at the upper part of thick layers by horizontal wells is proposed. Several horizontal wells are drilled and proved successful, which provide a new thought about tapping residual oil along faults in Daqing oilfield in the future.Keywords:channel sand body of thick oil layer, residual oil along fault, horizontal well.
