Study On The Sample Of Sialon Ceramic Liner Of Mud Pump

Mud pump is one of the main equipments of drilling engineering, cylinder liner is one of the key components of the mud pump. Once the cylinder liner fail to work, it has to stop the mud pump to change a new one, that will waste a lot of time and energy, and that will be harmful to economic benefit. Therefore, improving the using life of the mud pump liner became a top priority. Sialon is a kind of ceramic materials with high strength, high hardness, high-temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, resistance to friction etc excellent. These features is the basic requirement of materials for mud pump cylinder liner. So Sialon can be used as the cylinder liner material.The paper introduces the present situation and development of mud pump liner, and describes the present situation of modern ceramic materials. It mainly introduces Sialon material classification, characteristics, preparation method and application situation. This paper also analyzes and summarizes the failure reason of the cylinder liner, analyses the stress of cylinder liner in working state. Based on GP - 5 types of mud pump cylinder structure characteristics, the structure and size parameters of Sialon ceramic liner was designed. It uses Sialon as the inner layer, and uses 45# steel as the outer layer.The core technology of ceramic liner is firing the Sialon lining. To test feasibility of the program for making Sialon liner, the paper chooses Si power, Al power ,and Al2O3 power as raw materials. In 1 500℃temperature for nitriding sintering to manufacture Sialon. And the samples sintered out flexural strength and compressive strength and determination of the resistance to erosion performance. Determination result proves the feasibility of the method and sintering Sialon materials do have good mechanical properties.By experiment, the paper studies the conditions and methods to make Sialon ceramic liner. It explores how to use Sialon ceramic materials instead of metal materials to produce liner. It a new way to prolong the service life of the pioneering and piston. It cretes the necessary condition for the construction progress of drilling and economic benefits.
