Chemical, pharmaceutical, pesticide companies produce high concentration organic waste water and waste, characteristic of complicated components, toxic and hazardous substances, non-biodegradable feature. This part of the risk waste should be treated by qualified commissioned disposal units as solid waste, but the treatment cost is high, generally 3 000 to 5 000 yuan/m3. If discharged to the sewage treatment plant directly,it will result in a shock load, excessive emissions, or pollution incidents. Therefore, it is necessary to reduce processing costs, but also the safe handling. The best approach is to first use pretreatment as the efficient method to reduce the concentration and toxicity, further biochemical treatment to meet the discharge standards.Against high concentration organic waste water or waste, a combination of advanced oxidation multistage digestion process: iron and carbon micro-electrolysis / ultrasound / Fenton reagent / coagulation and sedimentation combined process was suggested in this paper.CODCr concentration of the simulated wastewater is 156608mg/L. The total removal rate of CODCr, TOC and p-nitrophenol reached 83%, 76%, and 78% respectively, when using such pretreatment technology. The ratio of B/C increased from 0.05 to 0.309, the biodegradability was improved remarkably. Ultraviolet spectrum had showed that a part of refractory materials, such as p-nitrophenol and phenol are effectively degraded into small molecules. The results show that this pre-treatment process can remove most of CODCr and TOC in wastewater and the biodegradability of wastewater can also be improved. In summary, ferric-carbon micro electrolysis-Fenton reagent combined process is characteristic of cost-effective, technically feasible, in treating high concentration and refractory organic wastewater. So it has high application.
