ELID grinding is a main technology which has been widely adopted to the ultra-precisionand high effectively machining of hard and brittle materials. With the development of theresearch and application of new materials and precision devices, requires of surface qualitybecome higher and higher. Metal-resin bonded wheels is the main tool in ELID grinding , but it'sdifficult to produce and expensive and could contaminate the clean surface of function materials.To ease this problem, this paper puts forward a new environmental friendly BCB (bamboocharcoal bonded) grinding wheel, a new ultra precision manufacturing technology which is moreconvenient to get a better surface quality is proposed and provide a new method and approach forthe development of the ultra precision machining technology. following are main works andachievements on this paper.1. Refer to the conventional grinding wheel manufacturing processes, according tocharacteristics of the technical features of ELID technology, a new manufacturing process ofBCB grinding wheel is established in this paper and also the perfect processing process.2. Reference to the parameters of traditional grinding wheel's detection methods, chosehardness, compressive strength and friction wear of the key parameters as BCB grinding wheel'sevaluation parameters and construct evaluation system of the BCB grinding wheel. And theeffect of different manufacturing parameters on the grinding wheel structure is also studied byXRD and SEM.3. Using BCB grinding wheel grinds SUS304 non-corrosive steel and studing the affectionof the workpiece'surface roughness and removal rate in different process parameters. with thehelp of Artificial neural Networks(ANN), the machining characteristics of BCB grindingwheel in grinding SUS304 non-corrosive steel has been settled. The study indicated that thesurface roughness can reach to 0.010μm.4. By studing the Grinding wheel surface condition and wear, preliminary discuss the BCB grinding wheel grinding mechanism.
