SO2 and NOx can cause the problem of environment and the human's health. And the coal rank distribution of China is in the opposite to the water distribution of China. Dry method of removal of SO2 and NOx simultaneously from fuel gas shows great potential for industrial utilities.Effective removal of SO2 and NOx simultaneously from fuel gas is one of necessary measures to solve air pollution in China. The activated coke for desulphurization and denitration has several excellent features, including high efficient for removal of SO2 and NOx , no water consumption, low cost, and obtain high concentration SO2 from desorption. At present, several studies about this technology are carried out abroad. And some of them attained some achievements. However, due to the high cost and the capability, the technology's development is limited. In this paper, the research of the troubles about this technology is studied on the basis of the achievements external and domestic.The study of SO2/NOx removal by activated coke was carried out in a fixed bed reactor. The characteristics of desulphurization and denitration respectively are firstly studied. In order to the best parameter , the mechanism of desulphurization and denitration respectively is further analysed. The research results show: the SO2 removal efficiency for activated coke reaches the highest value between 60℃80℃; the SO2 removal efficiency increased as the increasing of the oxygen content.When the oxygen content is 8%, the efficiency increases no more; the SO2 removal efficiency reaches the highest value with in the case the steam content is 13%. the NOx removal efficiency for activated coke reaches the highest value between 250℃350℃,and increases of the increasing of the oxygen content; the NOx removal efficiency increased as the increasing of NH3/NOx, take the cost into consideration, the NH3/NOx should controlled between 11.5; the steam in flue gas shows inhibiting effect on NOx removal.On the basis of the study of SO2/NOx removal, this paper analyzed the activated coke for desulphurization and denitration technology, and studied the interrelationship of SO2 removal and NOx removal. The results indictes: in the process of SO2 removal, the existence of NO could obviously influence the removal of SO2, and in the process of NOx removal, the existence of low content SO2 could promotes the removal of NOx,the SO2 removal efficiency of the activated coke which has removed NOx yet is lower than that of the fresh activated coke. The research results show that the regenerated activated coke had higher removal efficiency of SO2 and NOx.NH3 regeneration method is better than N2 regeneration.
