Owing to unique physicochemical properties, inorganic nano-materials have exhibited promising applications. Preparing novel inorganic nano-materials and investigating their general formation mechanism may be a solution to the precise control of their morphology and properties. Ionothermal synthesis is a new promising method for preparing materials. In this paper, the ionothermal synthesis of aluminophosphate molecular sieves, indium sulfide and cobalt -hydroxide-carbonate has been studied. The effect of ratios of HF on the morphology and framework was investigated systematically in the ionothermal synthesis of fluorinated aluminium phosphate frameworks using [Bmim]Cl. The effect of different ionoc liquids was also investigated. The ionothermal synthesis of aluminium phosphate using eutectic mixtures of malonic acid and choline chloride was carried out. Then the ionothermal method was used for the preparation of indium sulfide. Using Indium chloride and sodium sulfide as raw materials, the sample in ionic liquid [Emim]Br was tetragonalβ-In2S3 with hexagonal flake morphology, while in[Bmim]BF4, the sample was cubicβ-In2S3 with flower like morphology. The FI-IR result indicated that ionic liquids played an important role in the reaction process.Flowerlike indium sulfide nanomaterials have been prepared ionothermally for the first time, using eutectic mixtures of choline chloride and thiourea as solvent. Thiourea played the role of both solvent and reactant. Choline chloride and thiourea both played key roles on the formation of the frameworks and morphologies of indium sulfide. UV-vis of different samples has also been characterized. The emission peaks of all samples were blue-shifted distinctly, which shows an obvious quantum confinement effect.Cobalt-hydroxide-carbonate with special morphology was prepared in ionic liquids using Co(CH3COO)2·4H2O as cobalt source, urea as precipitating agent. Ionic liquids and urea both have a strong effect on the sample's morphology. The formation mechanism of cobalt-hydroxide -carbonate with special morphology has been discussed in brief.
