The Study on Landscape Patterns in the Middle Reaches of Hetian River by Remote Sensing Technique[Abstract] Hetian River is the largest continental river in the south of Tarim Basin. Themiddle reaches of Hetian River is not only an oasis梔esert ecological economic typical region in the west of China, but also an important agricultural area in the south of Xinjiang. Its natural environment is harsh, but people have used ecological and economic laws to improve environment for years. Meanwhile, artificial oasis is built up, moreover, plenty of wealth is acquired. Lots of experiments and patterns are summarized or created; which establishes better foundation for sustainable construction, development and harness of oasis.The study began with the natural geographic feature and remote sensing information mechanism, expounded the study method and approach of remote sensing on the landscape pattern, and discussed the characteristics and the dynamic changes of landscape pattern in the middle reaches of Hetian River. During the study, remote sensing information of multiband and multiseasonal as well as multiplatform is applied. At the same time, taking advantage of the GPS positioning and spatial analyzing function of GIS, analytical hierarchy process (AHP) is built to quantitatively analyze the landscape pattern in the middle reaches of Hetian River. Especially, the study connected remote sensing theory , landscape ecological principle with traditional ecological method, moreover, integrated RS, GPS and GIS , revealed the enormous potentiality of landscape ecological study by remote sensing Technique in continental river basin in arid zone. .Based on the remote sensing processed data in 1959 and 2000, the landscape pattern maps are made relaying on the processing and analysis module of ARC/INFO and IDRISI. It is discussed the macrocosm space pattern, space combination types and essential characteristics of landscape pattern in the middle reaches of Hetian River on macro and middle scales and measured values. The conclusion that landscape environment is optimizing is made. Tthrough the decision-analyzed by AHP, selected mainly ecological factors, such as water, vegetation, land development and social economic status, causes, distributing characteristics and dynamic changes of regional landscape pattern are systematically studied depending on the principle and method of landscape ecology. As a result, vulnerable ecological environment is showed with the ecological bearing capacity in middle reaches of Hetian River.In the view of the features of landscape pattern in the middle reaches of Hetian River, the landscape protection principles of development, harmonization and reality and ecological landscape construction principle including adapting nature, mutualism, adjusting ecosystem and meliorating function, local regulation and whole 'harmonization are put forward. The main measures of landscape ecological construction are river corridor construction and vegetation construction as well as oasis construction.
