Lanthanide complexes with the Schiff base are a class of compounds whichexhibit potential bioactivity .In order to study their application,we prepared a' series of new compounds and made physiological and biochemical study on theplants. We have done the work as follows:1.Six new lanthanide complexes with the Schiff base were synthesized in absolute methanol at the atmosphere Argon. The Schiff bases derived from the reaction of pridoxal with glycine . Elemental analysis and conductance measurements show that the complexes have the general formula of [RE(L) Cl2 nH2O] ,(RE:La,Y,Sm,Gd,Dy,Yb). The complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductivity, IR,UV spectra, TG-DTA and H-NMR spectra.2.Ecophysiological effect of Sm complexe of the pridoxylidene-glycine-acid on soybean harmed by acid rain was studied. Spraying soybean seedlings with 50 ppm Sm complexe of the pridoxylidene-glycine-acid apparently reduces the harm of PH2 acid rain to the plants. The results show that this Sm complexe altered many physiological effects such as increasing chlorophyll content , reducing the cell membrane permeability , keeping catalase (CAT) activity.3.Effects of RE (RE La.Sm) complexes of the pridoxylidene-glycine-acids on physiological and biochemical indexes of plants under Pb and Cd were studied. Physiological harm to five kinds of evergreen and mitigative effects of RE (RE ~=La.Sm) complexes of the pridoxylidene-glycine-acids on them under Pb and Cd stress were studied . The results show that the RE complexe obviously mitigative Pb and Cd pollution results in decreasing of chlorophyll content, rising of cell membrane permeability, changing catalase (CAT) activity and increasing of Pb content. The experiments proved that the Ln complexes have a definite effects on plants from the injury of Pb~. Cd.
