New Configured Hardened Face Gear Pinion Cutter And Its Cad

The existing hardended pinion type cutter with cone rake face couldn meet the requirements of machining the hard face gear with high precision because of its profiling method. The bigger its radial negative rake was, the greater profiling error became. To solve the aboved problem, this paper presented a new profiling method and theory of hardened gear face pinion cutter. The new configured pinion cutter took a convex curved face as its rake face and its cutting performance and profiling precision rise evidently. It could meet the requirements of machining the hard face gear with high precision level from 5 to 6(GB10095-88).In the view of the relative movement between grinding wheel and the new configured pinion cutter, this paper deduced the coordinate equation of convex curved face. Based on it, we set up a optimization model to search for the opitmal solution of convex curved face in the range of the precision level of AA and deduced the correlated formulae with the optimal parameter obtained of convex curved face and developed the parametric drawing software of the new configured pinion cutter for finishing hard face gear.
