The conversion from acid to neutral papermaking will bring about greateconomic and environmental benefit The domestic AKD sizes with fine qualityand low price can accelerate the conversion. In order to develop satisfying AKDsize, the paper mainly studies the three aspects of sizepreparing: chlorinatingtechnology of carboxylic acid, regenerating technology of TEA and synethesis ofcationic polymer emulsifierThe results of the research are as follows:1. For the synethesis of palmitoyl chloride, the optimal reaction condititonswith PCl3 as the chlorinating agent of palmitic acid are chosen by normal designexperiments and the conversion percentage of palmitic acid attains 98% while theconversion percentage with SOCl2 as the chlorinating agent can attain easily100%.Furthermore, considering that the refinement of the product by SOCl2method is easier than PCl3 method, SOCl2 method is better than PCl3 method forchlorination of palmitic acid.2. Triethylamine hydrochloride, as the by-product of dimerization reaction, may be converted into oil phase with moisture content <0. 1% by means of alkalineutralization and toluene extraction with the system temperature beingcontrolled at 50℃,water, toluene and TEA volume ratio being 0.8: 1.5 : 1 0Then the CaO is added and the TEA-toluene mixture with moisture content<0.03%is obtained after reflux and distillation. The mixture can be directly used toproduced AKD. The regeneration degree of TEA may reach 92%.3. In dimerization, micro water in TEA and little pamitoyl chloride in pamiticacid will lead to the decreasion of yield of AKD .So it must be ensured thatmoisture content be less than 0. 1 % and pamitic acid content be less than I%. Crudepamitoyl chloride from SOCl2 method can be directly used in synethesis of AKD.4. A method for synethesis of AEO-5 acrylat by direct-esterification in thepresence of solid catalyst is studied and the optimal reaction conditions areobtained by uniform design experimnt. The conversion percentage may reach93. 8%.5.The water-soluble cationic terpolymer is prepared by aqueous poIymerizationof AEO-5 acryIate, DM and DMAEMA with the monomer ratio l:79:20. PH4.5-5.0,initiator K2S2O8+NaHSO3,chain transfer agent isopropyl alcohol. ThepoIymer has fine emulsionizating and stabilizing effect on AKD.
