In this paper two parts of work are studied. In the first part, the microwave irradiation was applied into the co-polymerization of DM and AT, and into the homo-polymerization of DM and its cross-linking polymerization either. The influence of microwave irradiation to these systems was studied systematically. The difference between microwave irradiation polymerization and conventional thermal polymerization was investigated; and in the second part, polymer-metal complexes was synthesized by coordination of the electron donating group in the two monomers with the 3d empty orbit of the transition metal, the performance of the PMC was investigated. The PMC made from Cu( II) was applied into the initiation of the polymerization of MMA system, and its kinetics was studied. In the course of experiment, XPS, IR, ESR, TGA, DSC was used to attribute the relative PMC. I . Study of polymerizations under microwave irradiation: 1. Co-polymerization of DM and AT under microwave irradiation: Copolymer of DM and AT was synthesized under the microwave irradiation, and attributed with JR. The influence of the microwave irradiation time, power of the microwave irradiation, monomer ratio and the reaction temperature et alto the yield and intrinsic viscosity of copolymer was investigated. Compared with corresponding thermal polymerization, the result of the experiment showed that at the same conditions, the microwave irradiation can cause the polymerization of this system but it was not so easy in thermal polymerization. 2. The homo-polymerization of DM under microwave irradiation: Polymer of DM was synthesized under the microwave irradiation, and attributed with 1R. The influence of microwave irradiation time , microwave irradiation power, reaction temperature et alto the performance of polymer was investigated. Comparison with the conventional thermal polymerization was done either. The result of experiment showed that the microwave can cause the polymerization of DM more effectively compared with the corresponding thermal polymerization. The intrinsic viscosity and the yield of polymer got under microwave irradiation are higher than the one got by conventional method, while the reaction time was shorter. These all displayed that the microwave irradiation was better than conventional method in this system either. 3. The cross-linking polymerization of DM in the presence of cross-linking agent NBA under microwave irradiation: Cross-linked Polymer (CLPDM) of DM was synthesized under the microwave irradiation. The influence of different factors to the reaction was investigated, e.g. the influence of microwave irradiation time, microwave irradiation power, reaction temperature, the content of NBA to the yield or intrinsic viscosity of PDM. It was also compared with conventional thermal cross-linking polymerization. The results of experiment showed that: the cross-linking polymerization resulted by microwave irradiation had shorter reaction time, more yield. II. Synthesis of PMC and study of its performance: 1. Study of coordination of DM-AT copolymer with Cu( II): the microwave irradiation was applied into the synthesis of PMC using DM-AT and Cu( II) as materials. And it was attributed with IR, XPS, ESR, TGA and DSC etc. The PMC was applied into the initiation of the polymerization of vinyl monomers. It was found that it had catalytic function to MMA. The influence of its dosage et alto the PMMA was investigated. The PMMA was measured with GPC and its macromolecular weight and distribution was go...
