On The Study Of Soluble Cores For Investment Casting

The properties of the soluble cores applied in investment casting are studied by intercross-experiment means, including Gypsum and mSiO2nAl2O3 acting as matrix respectively. It aims at a proper component and method, which can be applied in practice as well as possess a very low cost.MgSO47H2O and P salt are additives in the experiments in which MgSC>4.7H2O and P salt act as additives. The experiments show that bending strength increases dramatically with addition of MgSC>4 ?7H2O at room temperature. In addition, its quality affects the cores' soluble property. P salt is helpful to sinter better at high temperature and increase bending strength at room temperature. The different baking temperature can change the strength greatly, and the quality of water and the time's range of pouring can affect the surface quality of the cores greatly.However, the soluble cores basing on mSiC^nAbOj uses K2CO3 NajPC^ and Na2SiC>3 as additives. It is shown that K2CC>3, Na3PO4, Na2SiO3 and the interaction of K2CO.i and Na3PO4 can all improve the bending strength and tensile strength, especially Na2SiC>3 is the most distinguished. According to the comparison of the two intercross tables, it is concluded that though Na2SiO3 can improve the strength of the soluble cores it does harm to the soluble property. K2CC>3 does good to the soluble property, but too much K2CC>3 can reduce the strength of the cores.With the development of military industry, the products in investment casting are required more and more precise sizes and surface. However, the soluble core is a vital factor that affects the quality of the products, for its special function as forming the complicated cavities. A better component and technology is gotten in this text by studying the cores' strength, surface quality,crackles and soluble property, which can exert an important effect on those casting factories.
