Two photoinitiators of a -amino acetophenone derivatives: 2-diethylamino-1 -p-tolylpropan-1 -one, 1 -(4-diethylaminophenyl)-2-morpholin-4-yl-propan-1 -one and three photoinitiators of a -amino acetophenone quaternary ammonium derivatives: benzyl-diethyl-(l -methyl-2-oxo-2-p-tolyl-ethyl)-ammonium bromide, 4-benzyl-4-[1,1 -diniethyl-2-(4-methylsulfanyl-phenyl)-2-oxo-ethyl]-morpholin- 4-ium bromide, triethyl-[4-(2-morpholin-4-yl-propionyl)-phenyl]-ammonium bromide, which have not been reported yet, were synthesized. Intensive discussion in experimental conditions and factors for the preparation of 2-diethylamino-l- p-tolyl-propan-1-one resulted in 90.8% in yield. And discussions about the quaternary ammonium reaction of a -amino acetophenone showed that the structure of haloalkane was the most important factor in the process.The paper identified the structures of the five compounds and Irgacure907 (Ciba company) by means of infrared and ultraviolet light spectrum, elemental analysis, mass spectrometry and 'H nuclear magnetic resonance spectrum. And the paper also made qualitative analysis of three quaternary ammonium compounds by means of TBN deposit detection method. Their photoinitiative properties test showed that the three kinds of water-soluble a -amino acetophenone quaternary ammonium derivatives have photoinitiability as well as the three kinds of a. -amino acetophenone derivatives. And triethyl- [4- ( 2 - morpholin - 4- yl- propionyl)-phenyl]- ammonium bromide( III) has the most excellent photoinitiability in the three kinds of ammonium derivatives.The paper also got the ultraviolet photopolymerisation dynamical curve of the ultraviolet curing system using triethyl-[4-(2-morpholin-4-yl-propionyl)-phenyl]-ammonium bromide as photoinitiator, by means of infrared light spectrum. The outcome indicated that triethyl-[4-(2-morpholin-4-yl-propionyl)-phenyl]-ammonium bromide had both good water solvability and high photochemical activity. It has a good prospect to be applied in water-soluble ultraviolet photopolymerisation coating.
