Several gold compounds AuLX(X:=Cl,Br,I) have been synthesized. Electroplating in DMSO and DMF with AuLX resulted in a bright coating. Using SEM to show microstructure, gold particle was found to distribute in sphericity, which gave gold coatings special superior performance. From KAu(CN)2-CH3OH bright film was also obtained, while no obvious spherical particle was found. HAuCl4 reacted with the base metal such as Cu and Ag directly owing to its high reduction potential. Satisfactory coating hasn't been obtained.As for the system of AuLCl+DMSO, effects of concentration, current density, temperature and additives on electroplating were studied. The property of the coatings has been investigated. A satisfactory coating was obtained under proper conditions.
