Tonglushan Copper & Iron Mine is a key mine of Daye Nonferrous Metals Co. The ore production in 2000's plan is more than 500 thousand tons. In the future of several years, the ore production will increase up to 820 thousand tons annually. In order to insure the mining production with high safety and efficiency currently and in the future, it is necessary to build a reliable mine ventilation system. At present, a new ventilation shaft has been developed and a new main fan has been installed at the main ventilation cross cut at -185 m level of No. 3 ore body. However, to make this ventilation engineering and equipment play the desired roles, some existing problems of the mine ventilation should be solved and some compatible ventilation constructions should be built in order to set up a new ventilation system. Accordingly, the main design and the research work of this project are as follows.1. Based on a literature search, the existing optimum design theory of mine ventilation, the energy saving technologies, the air splitting principles and techniques, the ventilating reliability and the application of artificial intelligence were summarized at first.2. A great number of field measurements were conducted in the mine ventilation system and a lot of basic data and relevant information were collected. Accordingly, the mine ventilation system was assessed comprehensively.3. Depending on analyzing and treating the collected data, the digital model of the mine ventilation system was set up, which including more than 400 branch parameters, all node relation, fan curves simulation, natural ventilation pressure, etc.4. More than ten new ventilation plans were put forward and all were analyzed in a computer by using a multi-function network analysis software.5. Based on the field test and computer simulation results, an optimum mine ventilation plan was achieved and all required air control constructions and measures were designed.
