In this paper, the corrosion mechanism of container for the melting Aluminum alloy receiver was studied under the circular condition of 620 癈 and room temperature. At the same time, the corrosion resistance experiments of the carbon steel and two kinds of stainless steel .which are used for container materials, were also done.1. According to the state diagram of iron and Aluminum, the surface appearance , structure and electrochemical characteristics of container materials were investigated after corrosion at 620C by potentiostat, SEM, EDX, X-ray etc. The results shows:(1) The major problem of choosing container materials is oxidation and erosion of liquid metal in high temperature. When the melting Aluminum contacts iron , the requirements of metallurgy adhesion are the flow and the infiltration to iron ,and the iron atom solution and aluminum atom adsorption, then The formation of Fe-Al compound and growth of the alloy layer.(2) In the high temperature of 620C,the process of corrosion is controlled by the development of corrosion layer and complies with the parabolic rule. The thickness of corrosion layer stabilizes gradually with the, time elongation and increases remarkably with the temperature .(3) When the materials immersed in melting Aluminum alloy under 620 C , corrosion mostly stems from minim composition dissolution of container material and alloy diffusion in the defects.2. The high temperature coating which was self-made against corrosion of container materials in melting Aluminum is also studied. The result shows:(1) The coating can effectively restrain diffusion of minimcomposition in container materials.(2)The coating not only decreases the erosion of melting Aluminum alloy but also availably prevents materials oxidation in high temperature. In other words, the coating greatly increases corrosion resistance of materials.(3) At 620C, three typical composition of coatings can increase the corrosion resistance of material in melting Aluminum alloy. The composition of T5 coating brings about a striking effect among them.(4) The service life of container is estimated based on our results. The life may last more than ten years under the condition of the specific material, thickness and temperature. In short, the effect of coating on corrosion resistance of material in melting Aluminum alloy is obvious . Some of tentative results were used in the key scientific project (number 010058) of Guangdong province, which was in charge of Prof. Zhang Ren-yuan. The project has been passed the authentication.
