The heat transfer properties of black liquor from wheat pulp in an agitated tank with three- blade propeller were studied in this paper. The black liquor from wheat pulp was a sort of typical pseudoplastic fluid. So by changing the experiment conditions of temperature-difference driving force, geometry shape and agitator speed, this paper investigated the heat transfer properties of black liquor from wheat pulp in the conditions of different physical properties, rheological properties, fluid power conditions and the space geometry characteristics of fluid flow. At the same time, the non-stable state conduction of heat of black liquor from wheat pulp in an agitated tank was discussed in this paper. Furthermore the related mathematical models and evaluation criteria based on the conventional methods and artificial neural networks were established. These may have theoretical value for the application of reducing the viscosity of black liquor by means of heating. In order to compare the non-Newtonian fluid, this paper also studied the heat transfer properties of glycerin. The experimental results showed that the factors of fluid power conditions, rheology, and the space geometry characteristics of fluid flow have much more obvious effect to black liquor from wheat pulp (pseudoplastic fluid) than glycerin (Newtonian fluid) as far as the heat transfer properties were concerned. It was necessary to have guided value for the further research in the heat transfer properties of non-Newtonian fluid.
