Based on the problems occurred in the former vacuum induction smelting process for soft magnetic alloy 1JHA1 in Shaanxi Iron and Steel Research Institute, smelting process improvement and research has been carried out to enhance surface quality and lower production cost. This paper analyzes the influence of different factors on quality and proposes effective measures to lower cost. The main aim is to draw a satisfying process route by means of discussing the smelting process.During the experiment, contrast trials of different deoxidization and modification agents (SiCa alloy and SiCaBa alloy) are made. The experimental results show that it is feasible to produce 1JHA1 by air induction melting based on technics and economics. The productions have good chemical compositions and magnetic properties as well as surface quality at lower cost.According to the analysis of chemical compositions and magnetic properties along with nonmetallic inclusion microstructure, this paper put forward opinions on the control of component and nonmetallic inclusion modification together with production cost. Smelting Process route with suitable deoxidization technology of air induction melting for soft magnetic alloy 1JHA1 is also fixed.
