Outdoor thermal comfort (OTC) greatly influences people's health and mental condition. With improvement of people's living level, thermal comfort becomes more and more important to resident in urban outdoor environment. However, Enlargement of the scale of urban accelerates the heat island effect of urban, and the change trend of urban outdoor thermal environment increasingly worry us. In addition, the thermal comfort is usually not regarded in a great deal of outdoor environment design. On the other hand, due to indoor air pollution, in order to breathe fresh air and touch nature, people would like to spend more time on staying outdoors. Health and comfort outdoor environment in residential area becomes one of ten standards of well-to-do residence made public by the ministry of construction, so people take it into account in purchasing house. Therefore, it is very actual value to carry out the research of outdoor environmental thermal comfort.In this thesis, the completely literature review has been made on urban macroclimate and micro-thermal climate research, the past research results of thermal comfort has been summarized. Evaluation indexes of urban outdoor thermal comfort have been compared and analyzed. As a subject of thermal perception, people have a conformable standard of thermal sense for either indoor environment or outdoor. In view of superiority of Predicted Mean Vote (PMV) in evaluating Outdoor Thermal Comfort (OTC), based on PMV, a mathematic model - Outdoor Thermal Comfort Degree (OTCD) has been proposed. The model includes basic thermal environmental parameters, i.e. radiant temperature that is calculated in terms of globe temperature, air temperature, relative humidity and air speed; Globe temperature generally represents sun radiate, scattering radiate from ground and long wave radiate, so OTCD could objectively and completely reflect OTC. In Chapter 3, the author has studied the outdoor thermal comfort and proposed the formation mechanism of thermal sensation and analyzed the factors that influence it. The window software to evaluate OTC based on Fanger's thermal comfort theory has been made with Visual Basic Computer technique. By comparing actual thermal sense vote of subject with OTCD values, Corrected Sensation Vote (CSV) has been proposed, which has built the base for the more accurate evaluation of OTCUrban squares have typical outdoor climate. As an important place in which people carry out activities, have a rest and communicate each other, squares have been increasingly attached importance to, so in Chapter 4, the mathematics model of square thermal environment has been made and prediction and evaluation software of square thermal environment has been developed. Author has simulated and evaluated thermal environment of Chongqing Renmin Square with the software. After comparing the simulated results with field-measured values, author may safely conclude that the simulated results accords with the field measured values and it is feasible to use the software to carry out mathematics experiment for the research of mechanism and regularity of interaction of thermal factors in square. In addition, the influence of lawn, shade and vertical plane temperature on squares thermal environment has been analyzed by the simulated software. In Chapter 5, Experiment research has been done in the living plot and square, Based on these experiments, thermal factors has been completely analyzed. Effective measures of adjusting architecture environmental design have been put forward to improve outdoor thermal environment.
