Relationships Between Properties Of Fabrics And The Shape And Prodution Of Clothing

With the entry of WTO of our country, there will be certainly moreand more intense competition for our clothing enterprises. Therefore, it is extremely urgent to create our own famous brands, and for a famous brand, the quality of clothing, such as the shape and production, is one of the most important factors. Fabrics, as the carrier of clothing, have a determinant influence on both clothing shape and production. Thus, it is quite meaningful to study on the relationships between properties of fabrics and the shape and production of clothing.The relationships between fabrics and wavy shapes of actual clothing were investigated. It was studied how the flexural modulus and drape of fabrics, the cutting angle along the fabrics influenced the shapes and styles of wavy clothing. Some quantitative parameters were designed for the wavy shape characteristics. A scientific basis was given for the clothing design, the selection of fabrics and production of garment with waviness.FAST tests were done for the newly-developed woolen fabrics of Jiangsu Sunshine Group in order to further explain the effects of the features of fabrics on clothing productions. With the analysis and study of the above data, some advices were put forward for the garment design and production of these fabrics. The following is main conclusions of this paper:1. Cutting fabrics along bias is the most suitable for clothing with waviness.2. The flexural modulus and drape of fabrics have great influences on the shape and style of garment waviness. Fabrics with good flexure and drape make fine waviness.3. The flexural modulus and drape of fabrics affect the production ofwave-type clothing on some extent, so before the production, the garment templet should be adjusted according to the features of fabrics 4. Wearing features of a fabric determine it' s applicability to clothing styles and technical processes of clothing productions.
