Dust hazard exists in most industrial fields in varying degrees. In non-coal industries, dust has seriously endangered environment, workers' health and production and led to tremendous economic loss. In coal industry, not only the dispersion of dust can causes a number of workers to suffer from pneumoconisis but also coal-dust explosion can lead numerous workers to injury and death, witch will bring tremendous economic load and adverse effects on coal enterprises.As compared to other dust collectors, wet dust collector is simple in structure, low in cost and suits the purification of air in higher humidity and containing adhesive dust, so it has been found wider application. In coal industry, the application of both the electrostatic and bag-type dust collectors is extremely limited due to special underground environment of coal mines, so wet dust collectors are generally used in the mines. However, the ordinary wet dust collectors being used at present have lower removal efficiency for dust, especially for respirable dust due to technology, dust can't be effectively under control. Therefore, it is of great importance to conduct the research on wet dust collector and raise its removal efficiency for respirable dust while ensuring its removal efficiency for total dust.This paper gives a detailed description of the properties and harmfulness of dust, the kinematic features of dust and the present situation and technical level of wet dust collectors both at home and abroad, a new type of wet cyclone dust collector has been successfully developed on the basis of the mechanism of wet cyclone dust collection, the theory of rotary airflow field and the similar model test results of the main components of wet cyclone dust collectors by the predecessors, all performance indexes of this new dust collector conform with requirements, it has been applied in Sichuan Changyun Cement Plant and better results have been obtained.This wet cyclone dust collector integrates dust removal by rotary atomizing and dust removal by cyclone dewatering into a whole and mainly consists of disc-type atomizer, guide device of air flow, dewatering device, fan and circulating water treatment system.More factors will have influence upon removal efficiency of wet cyclone dust collector. In this paper, systematic test research is focused on the influence of liquid-air ratio and air velocity upon the efficiency of dust removal and dewatering efficiency.Test results show that the efficiency of dust removal increases linearly with the liquid-air ratio, the liquid-air ratio of the wet cyclone dust collector is 1.33L/m3, the air velocity at entrance is larger than or equal to 10.6m/s and less than 14.7m/s, and when the rotary speed of atomizer is about 2900rpm, the removal efficiency of total dust can reach 99.8% or more and that of respirable dust can reach 98% or more. In practical application, the range of selectable air velocity of the wet cyclone dust collector isTest results also show that the dust removal efficiency and dewatering efficiency of the wet cyclone dust collector are in direct proportion and an optimum matching relation exists between the dewatering efficiency and air velocity and the length of dewatering device, when air velocity is 14.7m/s, the length of dewatering device is 8.3D (diameter of dust collector) and the efficiency of dust collector reaches the highest.Through the test by the National Quality Supervision and Test Center for Coal Mine Dust Control, Ventilation and Safety Products, the performance indexes of the wet cyclone dust collector all conform to the requirements for dust control in coal mines. Site application demonstrated that this dust collector is stable in quality and reliable in performance and the dust-laden air can steadily reach the standard of discharge after it is treated by this wet cyclone dust collector.The technological innovation in this paper is that the author has explored that the efficiency of dust removal is the highest, up to 99.88%, and the efficiency of respirable d...
